Who is Power in Dance?
Power in Dance is an organisation focused on education, creating opportunities and platforms for all dancers to work with International and Local Dancer, Choreographers and teachers through workshops and master classes.
POWERINDANCE provides beginners through experts, the opportunity to study with top industry professionals and benefit from a pool of extensive knowledge in the dance world.
The Owner/founders are dedicated to maintaining and uplifting, supportive and motivating environment in which to experience the joyous and transformational magic that is dance.
It is widely known that POWER IN DANCE has a passion for supporting young talent as they develop.
How did it all start?
It all started with a dance coach Corlanie Botha and 4 talented young dancers: Jade Lavarone, Deanne Morris, Katelyn Gouvias and Courtney Isaacs and their struggle to raise funds to get to LA (Hollywood) and participate in the incredible opportunity of the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) and then taking up the opportunity of learning from the best dancers and choreographers at the Millennium Dance Complex for their scholarship. They won Gold at the World Champs in July 2015 then managed to attend their month long scholarship at the famous Millennium Dance Complex in LA where they got to meet the most amazing choreographers and dance teachers, such as: Anze Skrube, Betty Rox, Comfort, Kenya and most of the Step up 5 movies crew and even did a flash mob with them for Twitch, which aired on the Ellen Show.
This inspired Corlanie and the girls to make a difference in their community and they started working with groups of talented dancers from all areas in Gauteng. Corlanie shared her passion for dancing with as many dancers she could reach.
PowerinDance has a mission to create platforms, opportunities and hope for talented and dedicated dancers in our community to display their talent and encourage them to grow and excel through Dance. Ultimately, the intention is to enable them to develop their abilities to be able to pursue meaningful careers either locally or abroad.
How can you help Power in Dance?
If you can lend a hand and give a Rand or two, you will be making a difference in the lives of young talented performers in the performing arts and help to instill ‘Ubuntu” back into our communities.
